- I have been tap dancing since I was 5 years old. (Let's just say I've been tapping a looong time.) Tap dancing is great exercise as well as a lot of fun. The good news is you don't have to be an expert to enjoy it. (I haven't found any bad news yet.) Most people can tap out a rhythm with their feet after learning a few very simple steps.
